VISION

LOVE
+
HATE

I'm 20+ years in fashion now and have always had
a love-hate relationship
with it.

I've designed shoes, bags and belts,
worked as buying director for a chain of 30 shops,
been a freelance advisor for buyers and whole sale collections,
developed brand- and shopconcepts,
and made trendbooks that were sold worlwide.

Now I work mainly as a (independent) trendwatcher
(though I also design collections for a few clients).
I love this work in which  I get to see lots and lots of beauty, creativity, originality and last but not least: craftsmanship.
For me beautiful shoes (or bags) are a bit like art:
just looking at them gives me a thrill.

But there's also a dark side to my work for me:
I hate the real fashion victims,
people who let fashion dictate their lives,
who judge others by how 'in' or 'out' they're dressed,
who have to have the 'it' bag of the moment,
walk down the Via della Spiga with twenty shopping bags in their hands,
or pop in at Harvey Nichols, while their chauffeurs wait till they come back with more new shoes, bags or whatever 'must-have' they 'need'.
I hate that blatant show of' 'look how rich I am', the superficiality of it all.
That's one of the reasons why I,  a few years ago, decided
to jump off  the big roller coaster that is called fashion.
(Another,- more important - reason was the friction
between raising my son Bob and the amount of travelling I did).

BUT NOW I'M BACK!
(Because Bob is a big boy now;-)

My love for beautiful shoes and bags still is very strong
(stronger than my negative feelings about fashion victims ;))

I enjoy making this blog
in which I show and share what thrills me

I hope you enjoy it too!

Let me know!
