Rem D Koolhaas 

(not to be confused with his older uncle Rem Koolhaas, the world famous architect) 

is a Dutch architect, who started the now world famous 

footwear brand 

United Nude

 in 2003.

The United Nude story began with a broken heart. 

Rem attempted to get back the girl 

by downsizing architecture

 to its smallest and most vulnerable scale:

 that of a woman’s foot.

United Nude 

positioned itself at the intersection of design and fashion.

This shoe is a combination of traditional craftmanship (the upper) with technical innovation (the molded plastic heel 'cap').
